I will change this site within the next few days. And when I say change – I’m talking radical, from the server hosting the site; the database powering the blog; the CMS being used. All change.
It comes in part through the movable type changes. But in fact there has been a cascade from that with me looking at other CMS that were open source. I found a few that I aimed to check out. But then became swept up in the launch of textdrive.
Textdrive aims to provide top notch hosting tailored for the needs of, but not exclusive to users of textpattern. As an open source project, textpattern would certainly have gone onto my list to trial, but the offer to become a founding VC200 with textdrive has left me looking at textpattern as the likely new system. Looking at the examples of sites that people have created with textpattern there is variety and flair that is not seen in many of the popular CMS.
There may be glitches and problems because the site is given a root and branch overhaul from server to content and database powering the blog. There might be downtime as DNS Settings propogate through interwebnet space. But I enjoy all the geekiness so I’ll have fun.
